Check the positon of the iron before securing it.
Any gaps between the iron side and the inner side of the mortise will be prime
candidate for shaving jams. To be properly set, the iron should be able to seat
against the inner side and the back of the seat and still have the profile match.

As shown in the photo, there is a large gap at the lower edge.

Sometimes however, you may have to allow a small gap in order to have
the profiles match because of wear and sharpenings over the planes life.
The same is true when seating the wedge properly. Not shown....
Only there is never a good reason to leave a gap.
This will most definitely cause you greif !!!!
